A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is a unique reference number issued by your licensed UK university once you accept your unconditional offer, required to apply for the Student visa.
You typically need to show funds covering your tuition (if unpaid) plus living costs of £1,483 per month (outside London) or £1,136 per month (inside London), for up to nine months, held for 28 consecutive days.
Most Student visa holders at degree level can work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during official vacation periods, subject to their CAS conditions.
The Graduate Route lets eligible graduates stay in the UK for two years (three years for PhD graduates) after completing their course, without needing a job offer, to work or look for work.
Most applicants need to prove English proficiency, usually via a Secure English Language Test or evidence from their university, unless they meet an exemption (such as being a national of a majority English-speaking country).
